CD4 Update - June 23, 2010

Greetings CD4 DFLers!
 
Thank you to everyone for your involvement with the Fourth Congressional District DFL.  Without the help of volunteers like yourself, we would not be as successful as we are!  There are number of ways that you can get involved with our organization - below you will find information about some of the ways that you can help out.  Feel free to contact us at cd4dfl@gmail.com if you have any questions.
 
50 days and counting until the primary!
With slightly under 2 months left before the August 10th Primary, there are a number of volunteer opportunities that you can get involved with to help get the word out about our great team of DFL-endorsed candidates around the Fourth District.  We hope to send out a weekly list of the various opportunities to get involved with.  Feel free to share any events you would like to have passed along by sending them to cd4dfl@gmail.com.  You can also feel free to share this with your local party unti or anyone else you think may be interested in getting involved!
 
Oakdale Summerfest Grande Parade - Thursday, June 24
Come join McCollum for Congress as we march in the Oakdale Parade on Thursday, June 24, 2010.  Meet us to line up at 6:00 pm at Transfiguration Catholic Church at 15th St. and Century Ave. We are unit # 25.  Parking is available at the Titan Office Building lot and the Oakwood Professional Center lot, which are both located on Century Avenue.  Contact Henry at henry@mccollumforcongress.com or (651) 603-1505 if you have any questions.
 
Kaposia Days Parade - Friday, June 25
Come join McCollum for Congress as we march in the Kaposia Days Parade on Friday, June 25, 2010.  Meet us to line up at 6:00 pm. Take the Thompson/Wentworth exit off Highway 52, east to 12th Avenue and turn south. Parade Marshalls will direct you to your spot. We are unit #38.  There is no designated parking area. Your best bet is to park somewhere between Hwy. 52 and 13th Ave. N. Please be respectful of the neighbors and their property.  The parade is held rain or shine. SD64 Kick-off Doorknock - Saturday, June 26
This Saturday, the 26th, at 9:30am, we are going to be having a door-knock in SD 64.  Our DFL-endorsed candidate for Governor, Margaret Anderson Kelliher will be there, and we want to make it as large as possible.  If you are available, come and take part.  We're shooting to knock 2500 doors and to do that we're going to need all hands on deck.

Lawn Sign Kickoff
Come join Betty McCollum, John Choi, Matt Bostrom, and other DFL-Endorsed candidates as they kickoff lawn sign season!  There will be a short rally starting at 9:30am followed by everyone going out and putting up lawn signs.  If you have a vehicle that can hold a lot of lawn signs please bring it.  If you have any questions please call Henry at (651) 603-1505 or henry@mccollumforcongress.com.
 
Twin Cities Pride - June 26 & 27
There will be a booth for Stonewall-DFL, Margaret Anderson Kelliher’s campaign, and other DFL-endorsed candidates on Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Matt (nelsen@stolaf.edu, 651-895-2050), who is coordinating volunteers via Margaret’s campaign.
 
For the parade on Sunday, there are two main DFL groups that folks can walk with:

Line-up begins at 8:30am and we must be in place by 10am. It begins on the corner of 3rd Street and Hennepin Avenue. Kick-off is 11am! Margaret will be marching with with the group!  For more information contact Matt (nelsen@stolaf.edu, 651-895-2050)
 
Betty McCollum
Come join Betty McCollum and Keith Ellison with Human Rights Campaign for the Ashley Rukes GLBT Pride Parade in Downtown Minneapolis.  We are unit # 25.  Can't wait to see you there!  If you have any questions please contact Henry at henry@mccollumforcongress.com or 651-603-1505.
 
Fourth Congressional District DFL Committees
We are looking for volunteers to get involved with the three committees that will help run CD4 as we move towards the 2010 elections and beyond.  
The committees for the 2010-2012 CD4 DFL are:
•                 Affirmative Action/Outreach Committee
•                 Fundraising Committee
•                 Communications Committee

The committee co-chairs will get in contact with you about the individual committees.  
 
Other Volunteer Opportunites
We will need folks to help out with staffing the Ramsey County Fair Booth and also with planning the 2010 Vento Dinner.  There will be additional information about these opportunities sent out shortly, but if you are interested in helping, email Melissa at mjamrock@gmail.com.
